The Round-Leaved Sundew is one of several
"insect-eating" plants. The small leaves are covered with red hairs which have
a drop of solution at the tip which contains protein-dissolving enzymes. A tea
or tincture was once used for coughs, asthma, heart disease, and as an
aphrodisiac. Because of the enzymes, liquid from the leaf hairs has been used
to treat warts and corns. |
