The Rainforest Floor: reptiles and amphibians.

Many reptiles "hide in plain sight" through camouflage - many are able to shift their color to match their background!

Lizard, Parque Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica.

On the beach at Manuel Antonio, C.R. Here it is! HERE IT IS!

Can you see the lizard resting on the log? If not, move the cursor around until it points it out.

This spiny iguana could not look more like the rock upon which he sits! From the viewpoint of a hawk looking down upon the rock, he will be invisible.

"Snakevine"

Watch out for this snake! - Oops, it's just a vine!

Our guide, Marguerita, pointed and said; "oh, there's a vine snake". "Where?", I said, trying to look deep into the growth. "About 6 inches in front of your nose", she said!

"Ohhhh - THAT snake!"

Vinesnake, Costa Rica.

Vinesnake, Tortuguerra Nat. Park, Costa Rica

The vine snake sits very still, looking like a vine, avoiding being eaten - and waiting for something to come along for him to eat!

Always keep your eyes open for small surprises in the rainforest! This frog was sleeping for the day under a palm leaf.

Treefrog, the Amazon.

If you want to see (and hear!) frogs, take a walk at night!

Of course, if you are around water, you will always find turtles!
